Baaya Design

Baaya Design is a pioneer in interior styling and bespoke arts such as wall art, murals, artefacts, lights, partitions and art furniture. The group gets their name from the Baya Weaver or Indian weaverbird, whose nest is a wonderful example of workmanship and functionality. Baaya’s design repertoire over the last 10 years includes interior styling for residential spaces, corporate offices as well as hospitality projects. The Baaya retail store at Raghuvanshi Mills, Mumbai, creates and curates a range of products inspired by cultural arts and crafts, to complement contemporary spaces. Baaya believes that native arts and crafts can be used to tell stories in today’s world. Their design practice involves working with the country’s artisans. Mostly found in India’s villages, Baaya engages with these artisans to explore new interpretations of their skills. Baaya’s capabilities extend beyond 70 different Indian styles and are always growing. Apart from craft innovation, Baaya is a social enterprise providing rural artisans with year-long access to an urban market. Their journey began with the landmark Baaya store in Mumbai, India. The latest development is Studio Baaya, the design arm that collaborates with architects to create custom products and installations for interiors.
